Liam Lawson said, “I’m super pumped to get back to work in Miami now though – it’s a place I love a lot and the energy and atmosphere is amazing.” Lawson returns to racing at the Miami Grand Prix on May 3rd, 2026, after a five-week break.
The race will take place at the Miami International Autodrome and marks the fifth Miami GP since it joined the calendar in 2022. Lawson currently stands 10th in the drivers’ standings with 10 points. Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes leads with 72 points.
This year’s event consists of 57 laps. Lawson finished 13th in last year’s sprint race and retired during the Grand Prix. His team, Racing Bulls, confirmed chassis upgrades for this weekend.
Alan Permane noted, “We carried out some additional work on the chassis that wasn’t originally planned until later in this flyaway sequence.” He also mentioned that addressing power unit concerns has been a focus for the team.
The Miami Grand Prix follows a five-week break due to the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian GPs. This gap has allowed teams to refine their strategies and make necessary adjustments.
