Georgia is issuing a one-time tax refund to its residents, providing significant financial relief amid a budget surplus. The state will provide $250 for single filers, $375 for heads of household, and $500 for joint filers. The total amount for Georgia’s tax rebate exceeds $1 billion.

Gov. Brian Kemp signed this measure into law via House Bill 1000. Residents who filed their tax returns electronically will receive the refunds at the bank accounts they used. This initiative comes as Georgia experiences a budget surplus, allowing for these rebates.

The Inland Revenue will begin issuing income tax assessments from the last weekend in May and continue into June and July. In 2025, approximately 3.63 million customers received end-of-year tax assessments automatically. Of those, about 2.37 million received refunds.

Andromeda Metals Limited recently received a tax incentive refund totaling $1.66 million due to the R&D Tax Incentive program. This program allows Andromeda to claim refunds at a rate of 43.5% of costs incurred on eligible expenditure over a three-year period.

Andromeda expended $3.4 million in eligible R&D expenditure during the 2025 financial year. Sarah Clarke from Andromeda expressed satisfaction with the refund, highlighting its importance for supporting innovation by industry.

Gov. Brian Kemp emphasized that Georgians know best how to spend their money, not the government. This sentiment aligns with the broader aim of supporting residents through direct financial assistance.
