Diesel prices are rising sharply in both Thailand and Fiji, driven by volatile global market conditions. The retail price of regular high-speed diesel (B7) increased by THB0.60 per litre to THB40.80 per litre effective May 1, 2026.

Key price changes in Thailand:

  • The subsidy for regular high-speed diesel (B7) rose by THB0.94 to THB3.12 per litre.
  • The retail price of high-speed diesel B20 also increased by THB0.60 to THB33.80 per litre.
  • The subsidy for high-speed diesel B20 was raised by THB0.74 to THB9.18 per litre.
  • The current expenditure of the Oil Fuel Fund stands at THB171.51 million per day.
  • The global market price of diesel closed at around US$179 per barrel on April 30, 2026.
  • The petrol price in the global market was approximately US$138 per barrel on the same day.

The situation is similar in Fiji, where diesel prices have surged. On May 1, 2026, the price of diesel rose by 93 cents, reaching $3.82 per litre.

Key developments in Fiji:

  • The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) stated that international refined fuel prices increased by 69.60 percent.
  • The FCCC noted that without a gradual approach to price increases, diesel could have exceeded $4.50 per litre this month.
  • The price of kerosene also rose by 59 cents, reaching $2.99 per litre.

The FCCC emphasized that its priority remains ensuring continuous availability and sustainability of fuel supply across the country. Officials have not disclosed specific reasons for the drastic changes in fuel prices, but they attribute it largely to higher world market prices.
