Last year, May donated 3,000 daffodil bulbs to brighten the church green in Elstead. His initiative was well-received by the community, making him a local hero. However, this recent setback has disappointed many.
May expressed his frustration over the council’s decision. “We were all hoping to adorn the main Village Green for next Spring … but sadly the Parish Council last night rejected my plan,” he said. He referred to community volunteers as “Team Daffodil.”
Many residents have voiced their support for May. One user commented, “They are being incredibly shortsighted in my opinion.” The council maintains that it has a duty to balance practical usage of the green with residents’ views.
