World Vision New Zealand is promoting its ethical gift catalogue for Mother’s Day. The initiative supports families facing hunger and poverty worldwide.
Gifts from the catalogue start at $10. This amount can provide lifesaving immunisations for a child. Popular items include fast-growing seeds, nutrition programmes, cooking classes, emergency food, and support for women to start a business.
On the local front, Eastgate Shopping Centre is also preparing for Mother’s Day. They offer a $200 prize for Hair Beauty and another $200 for Unichem.
The shopping centre features over 40 stores and services dedicated to Mother’s Day shopping. They have crafted a complete Mother’s Day menu that includes drinks, entrees, mains, sides, and desserts.
The menu options are designed to be hands-off. This approach allows families more time to enjoy each other’s company during the celebration.
TJ Grant from World Vision stated, “Mother’s Day is about recognising the love and sacrifice of mums and mother figures in our lives.” He emphasized that choosing an ethical gift is a powerful way to celebrate that love while helping another family in need.
The initiative by World Vision highlights the importance of supporting mothers globally. It encourages consumers to think beyond traditional gifts this Mother’s Day.
