Two weather fronts are expected to affect Taiwan this week, bringing showers and thunderstorms across the island. The first front will bring heavy rain to northern Taiwan, while other areas may experience localized showers or thunderstorms.
Daytime temperatures in northern Taiwan will range from 22°C to 25°C. Nighttime lows will drop to between 18°C and 19°C. Liu Pei-teng from the Central Weather Administration (CWA) stated, “The northeasterly winds will also lower temperatures in northern Taiwan slightly to 26°C to 27°C in the daytime, and 21°C to 22°C at night nationwide.”
Another front is forecast to arrive on Friday. This second front is expected to bring brief showers to central, northern, and eastern Taiwan. On Sunday, strengthening northeasterly winds will likely lead to additional brief showers in northern and eastern regions.
Temperatures in northern Taiwan will see a slight decrease during the day on Sunday, reaching around 26°C to 27°C. Meanwhile, nighttime temperatures nationwide may drop to between 21°C and 22°C.
The CWA is also monitoring visibility issues due to low clouds or fog. These conditions could reduce visibility in the outlying Matsu Islands from Wednesday evening through Friday morning.
